Back to the planet Venus

1957 November 4, Illyrien Space Center, Press Center

Yes, it is indeed that time, with an exciting opportunity. The window to Venus is open, and we sent two more science probes to this interesting planet. Both probes are of the Kepler 7 class. They carry a larger science package then previous Kepler probes, in particular a SAR scanner.

The launches did not all go well, and the second launch suffered unexpected rapid disassembly, when it tipped over at high speed. Fortunately a backup probe could be quickly fixed and was launched in its stead.

A few days post launch final adjustments where undertaken, and both probes are now on intercept course with Venus.

Any questions?
